CHARLIE IS A LONDON BASED PHOTOGRAPHER, specialising in food and drink photography for editorial, publishing, pr/marketing and advertising clients in the UK and Europe.
He gained his MSc in Biological Photography and Imaging at Nottingham University, where he still returns every year to lecture primarily on how to set up a small creative business.
He now shoots from his studio in south London, mostly using natural daylight, his aim being to produce clean, uncluttered images with the focus being on food presentation and simple, yet striking, styling.
Outside photography, Charlie is a regular traveller with a keen interest in foreign cultures, languages and cuisine and the surrounding natural environment and ecology - but never without his Rollei.

this summer’s large work project is now beginning to gather pace… it’s been a little while since last attempting to write something of interest on this blog, but not being able mention too much about my work until september has made updating this regularly a little tricky, but today was worth an entry and hopefully in [...]
a summer shoot on a rainy day over the last year or so I have been shooting every month for Essentials magazine, in fact it must be about a year as I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of shooting roast turkey for Christmas editions in August yet, and this month it was time to shoot [...]

It really begs the question why squash isn’t an Olympic sport, as for [...]
just got this in the post, better check for spiders this was published back in october and thought it was worth sharing as I was asked to be a contributor and had to answer some questions under a cheesy photo of myself, although sadly one of my answers was changed – when asked ‘if I saw [...]
here it is… after days of painting, drilling, sweeping, sawing, cupboard building and more sweeping and sneezing, here is my beautiful studio
